Teddy King: Young American Bound for Big Time European Racing in 2009

Ted King, formerly of the Bissell Pro Cycling team, will jump across the pond to Europe in 2009 to ride with the newly formed Cervelo TestTeam squad of 2008 Tour de France winner Carlos Sastre. King will ride with some super talent, including Thor Hushovd, Sastre, Heinrich Hausler, and Dominique Rollin. King will surely have a period of adjustment to European racing, but the veterans that he will be surrounded by should be able to help him come up to speed sooner rather than later.

King had a great 2008 season, finishing second in the NRC standings and wearing the KOM jersey at the Tour of Georgia. But as any European-bound American will tell you, the racing over in the old country is entirely different from the USA. King will have his hands full as he tries to adjust to life on a Pro Tour team. A budding journalist, King will no doubt find that being in Europe will give him a ton of extra ammo to write about on both his blog and his website.

Hopefully King will have an easy adjustment period as he settles in with the Cervelo team. The last thing his fans want to see is for the 24 year old to return to America to race. If he can make it through the first half of the season, 2009 should be the first of many for Ted King as a top International cyclist. Another interesting happening to watch for will be how King is received by other European cyclists. Called by David Zabriskie "One of the funniest cyclists around," King's humor may be just what the Cervelo team needs to keep the mood within the team positive.
