Taylor Phinney - rotten luck in the state of Denmark

Taylor's ankle after the crash
Taylor Phinney is one of the most promising young American cyclists. With his pink jersey after wining the Giro opening ITT - well he became a fulfilled promise. That is untill bad luck hit. First mechanical trouble ment he had to race another ITT in the second stage of Il Giro. Then "the Ferrari Terminator" hit.

Roberto Ferrari felt like he owned the road (must be because of his name) and caused a massive pile-up. Phinney was the most severely injured rider. And that showed in the TTT, where he tried to much to compensate for his banged-up ankle. And of course that meant a road-trip down an Italian patch of grass (Lance anyone ?) and some trouble keeping up with his fellow BMCs.

There's always drama in procycling. Taylor Phinney learned this one at an early age. He must never forget this lesson and keep at it. I see great things in his future.
